This is going to be Huawei’s first smartphone launch in the country.
The Chinese company revealed the handset is going to make way at Walmart later this month.
There’s no word on the pricing and the launch date so far. It’s also unknown whether it will be offered with carrier contracts or unlocked.
Huawei Ascend W1 comes with a 4-inch IPS LCD WVGA display, a 1.2 Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, Gorilla Glass, 4 GB internal SD storage, 512 MB RAM, a microSD card slot for expansion up to 32 GB storage, a 5 mega-pixel back camera featuring 720 p recording and LED flash, a VGA front-camera, and a 1,950 mAh battery. It runs on Windows Phone 8.
It’s also rumored the company will launch the Huawei Ascend W3, but there’s no confirmation on a US release.
Huawei Ascend W1 was initially unveiled at CES 2013 back in January.
