Warner Bros. Eyeing Ben Affleck for the Accountant

Ben Affleck is currently in final negotiations with Warner Bros. to headline The Accountant.

The studio is looking to pair Affleck, with Warrior director Gavin O’Connor (although an offer has yet to be made), with plans to have the film shoot before Affleck’s next directorial venture, Live by Night.

With a script penned by Bill DuBuque, the action-thriller will focus on a mild-mannered accountant who moonlights as a lethal assassin.

Currently doing the press rounds for his latest film, Gone Girl, a film that sees him paired with visionary director David Fincher, as well as paying Batman in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice for director Zack Snyder, will see his schedule full well into 2016.

The project is current being overseen by Drew Crevello and Jon Gonda, and was recently put into turnaround after spending several years in limbo over at Sony,

Will Smith was attached to the project at one time, but it was still unable to get off the ground. Warner Bros. originally had the rights to the film, with Mel Gibson attached to direct, but interest in the project was lost.
