What To Watch: 2014 Olympics, Friday February 14th

Tonight’s Prime time Olympic coverage on NBC showcases some of the games most popular sports.

There are several medal competitions, including mens figure skating,the men’s alpine skiing- super combined final, women’s freestyle skiing-aerials and women’s skeleton.

Coverage on NBC is from 8-11:30 (Eastern Standard Time) These events will also be streamed live on NBCOlympics.com

The men’s figure skating competition will be short a competitor. Evgeni Plushenko, of Russia, withdrew after aggravating his back  in practice yesterday.  This has been an ongoing problem for him.  This leaves the field wide open for the other countries.

The men’s alpine skiing final will feature teammates Bode Miller and Ted Ligety of the U.S.  They each have a gold medal in previous Olympics, Ligety in Turin and Miller in Vancouver.  Also, Ligety is the reigning world champion.

Meanwhile the women’s freestyle skiing aerials will showcase Vancouver Olympian Ashley Caldwell and  world champion Xu Mengtao.

Finally, the  women’s skeleton competition may have Britain’s first gold medalist if Lizzy Yarnold, who is favored, wins.

As always NBC will rebroadcast these competitions late night, from 1-4:30 a.m.
