What to Watch – Paralympics Day 8

Extreme sports makes its Paralympics debut this morning.

Snowboarding made its Olympic debut during the 1998 Nagano Games. This morning it makes its Paralympic debut in Sochi.

The initial event is the Para Snowboard Cross. In this event a group of competitors will race each other through a course.

In its first year, the event is open to athletes who compete in the standing division only. Five of the twelve athletes in the women’s competition are from the United States.

The men’s field is thirty-two strong. Five of those men will be wearing the stars and stripes of the United States.

Both the men and women will be competing for medals.

Coverage of this Paralympic debut will be broadcast on both NBCSN and TeamUSA.org.  The streaming coverage will begin on TeamUSA.org at 2 am. NBCSN will broadcast the event starting at 3 am.

There are other events taking place in and around Sochi today.

Once the Para Snowboard Competition is completed the men’s and women’s Super Combined Super G competitions will take to the mountain.

The biathlon will take place at the Laura Cross-country and Biathlon Center starting at 2 am. Action will continue through the day including all of the men’s and women’s divisions.

Sled hockey fans can gear up for Saturday’s gold medal game by enjoying the seven-eight match up between Korea and Sweden. The five-six game will see the Czech Republic and Italy.

Fans can enjoy all of this action streaming on TeamUSA.org.
