This past week, thousands of people gathered at Lincoln Center in New York City for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
The 2014 New York Fashion Week, which took place from February 6th to February 13th, displayed the upcoming fashions for the 2014 fall and winter seasons.
Mere hours after the end of New York Fashion week, The New York Times posted a list of the top ten collections that stood out most to fashion editors.
The designers that made the list are:
1. Marc Jacobs
This Marc Jacobs collection features several bomber jackets and knits that incorporate earthy brown tones, as well as flowing pieces with petal-like textures and hues.
2. Calvin Klein
Calvin Klein displays several cozy and comfortable sweaters, knits, and coats. This collection has a high concentration of earthy colors sprinkled with several white pieces.
3. Ralph Lauren
This collection also features comfortable, flowing pieces, composed of earthy tones and pastel shades.
4. Porenza Schouler
Focused on textured prints, this collection maintains the designer’s signature style with pieces that are flared at the hips and arched at the shoulders.
5. Narciso Rodriguez
The Narciso Rodriguez collection also exhibits comfortable pieces with flowing fabrics, and embodies the theme of blocked and contrasting colors.
6. Marc by Marc Jacobs
The Marc by Marc Jacobs collection features several pieces with oversized bows or oversized belts that compliment military-fitted pieces.
7. Zero + Maria Cornejo
In another comfortable collection, Zero + Maria Cornejo features several ponchos and long cardigans. This collection has a predominately black and white color scheme.
8. Derek Lam
The Derek Lam collection utilizes several different textures, but maintains a fairly consistent theme of simply shaped pieces.
9. Alexander Wang
Unlike the previously mentioned collections, Alexander Wang exhibits a variety of bright, bold colors with several square-cut pieces.
10. Altuzarra
Altuzarra’s collection also incorporates bold colors, but does so in several tapestry themed pieces.
