As of this writing, both Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic won their opening matches and advanced to second round. Williams was not as dominant as expected but still managed to overcome Margarita Gasparyan with a 6-4, 6-1 win. Djokovic defeated Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic is the heavy favorite to win this tournament. Other favorites expected to make the semifinals are Andy Murray and Roger Federer. Surprisingly, Rafa Nadal ranks only 4th betting favorite given his mediocre performance since winning French Open last year.

In the women’s division, Serena Williams is the heavy favorite to win it. Despite her age (33 years-old), many sports analysts believe she is playing at a very high level recently. The only obstacle so far is another Grand Slam winner, Petra Kvitova. However, she is 1-5 versus Serena Williams.
