Xbox One players can win a new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata before it even hits dealerships by playing Forza Horizon 2 in Mazda’s Time Trial Rivals Contest. And yes, it’s a chance to win the real, actual car, not a virtual one.
A free Mazda MX-5 pack for Forza Horizon 2, with cars exclusive to Xbox One, will also be available for download as part of the contest.
The Mazda Time Trial Rivals Contest to win an MX-5 Miata works like this: players must use an Xbox One console to log into their Xbox Live account, then use the Mazda MX-5 pack to race the 2016 Miata in a specified event and track. The players with the fastest two times will be flown in June to L.A. and will compete against one another to win the real MX-5 Miata.
Mazda’s Time Trial Rivals Contest begins Tuesday, March 17 and runs through Thursday, April 30, 2015. The free Mazda MX-5 pack for Forza Horizon 2 will also be available for download Tuesday, March 17.
Models included in the Forza Horizon 2 Mazda Car Pack are the 2016 MX-5, 2010 MX-5 Super20 SEMA concept car, 1990 MX-5 and 2005 MAZDASPEED MX-5.
To download the Mazda Car Pack, users should navigate to the Mazda landing page on an Xbox One within their Xbox Live account.
The download also lets Miata lovers get close to the 2016 MX-5 and explore the car’s interior and exterior details, courtesy of Forza Horizon 2’s vivid graphics.
Mazda also says players will “get to experience the car in the game’s massive open-world roads and, for the first time, in various climates and day and night settings. It will be the ultimate test drive for those accustomed to getting all their information digitally, and all before you can drive one in the real world.”
Xbox One gamers who wish to participate in Mazda’s Time Trial Rivals contest can begin by logging into Xbox One and navigating to the Games, Music, Movies, or Apps channel. Next, they should click on the Mazda MX-5 ad, if it appears, or look for the Mazda MX-5 ad landing experience and click there. Inside the Mazda hub, players can enter the contest by following prompts on the contest page. Then players are required to play in a Rival Mode event (the Mazda MX-5 Challenge) and use a 2016 Mazda MX-5 vehicle from the Forza Horizon 2 Mazda MX-5 Car Pack on the Sisteron Perimeter Sprint Track.
The non-virtual 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata goes on sale later this summer and Mazda is touting the Forza Horizon 2 game as an opportunity for fans to check out the car early.
