Qi has confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be compatible with Qi wireless charging devices.
In a press release, Qi said “The new Samsung Galaxy S4 uses the Qi wireless charging standard in its optional back battery cover and wireless charging pad accessories.”
The release date and price for the Samsung Galaxy S4 has not been announced.
Qi technology is already being used by several manufacturers, such as BlackBerry, Motorola, LG, Sony and Verizon Wireless.
Consumers who already have a Qi accessory will be able to use it for Galaxy S4 if they buy one.
Third-party manufacturers are expected to release more accessories for the handset after this announcement.
The Galaxy S4 has been tipped to arrive in stores next month. Around 400 carriers worldwide are expected to stock the Galaxy S4.
