X-Men fans take note: this latest installment in the hit franchise, X-Men: Days of Futures Past is like nothing -and I mean NOTHING you’ve ever seen before (and we’re not even talking about Hugh Jackman’s rear).
The movie opened today in theaters everywhere and let me tell you, it is even better than they said it would be. 7 movies in you would think it would be a pretty routine, formula driven movie- well you would be wrong, I know I was.
If you have not seen any of the first 6 movies, or its been a while since you have then do NOT see this movie until you do!
X-Men: Days of Futures Past hinges on the story lines of the previous 6 – you will not understand what is gong on or appreciate a number of key scenes without seeing the other movies.
In this film Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) must travel back in time to change events and give the Mutants one last chance to defeat the Sentinels.
I won’t spoil it by giving away too many details, but here’s what I can tell you:
- When the movie begins it feels like every other X-Men film: then it takes a dramatic twist and you are on an unfamiliar, but utterly compelling, road.
- Wolverine is naked for a scene, but it is Jackman’s spell-binding performance that truly catches viewers eyes. He, along with the audience, get the shock of their lives by movies end.
- Everything you ever knew about this franchise will be turned upside down: I know you have heard that about other movies but I can not stress enough how mind-boggling this one truly is. The entire fabric of these films will be permanently altered by the time the closing credits roll.
- Speaking of which, stay until the credits are over because there is a bonus scene giving you a glimpse of the next installment.
X-Men: Days of Futures Past is a visually stunning, cleverly executed masterpiece. Regardless of everything else that may be gong on Bryan Singer has created what can only be described as the must-see move of the year.
Kudo’s to the entire cast for their remarkable performances, particularly Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Ian McKellan and the always brilliant Jennifer Lawrence.
X-Men: Days of Futures Past is in theaters everywhere. You can see the first 6 films through Amazon, Netflix or Best Buy.
