Gamers considering trading their Xbox 360 for an Xbox One may decide against it after hearing this news.
Microsoft recently announced that games downloaded from XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade) will only work on Xbox 360.
Xbox One, revealed in May, isn’t backward compatible and it won’t support Xbox 360 games.
Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer was the one who broke the bad news while speaking to GameSpot.
‘Those games will continue to run on your Xbox 360 for as long as your Xbox 360 runs,” Spencer said.
“The box is not backward compatible and we think for somebody who invests in a large digital library that you want to keep your [Xbox 360]. Keep that as a vibrant part of the ecosystem.”
This could mean Microsoft doesn’t want consumers to forget about the Xbox 360 any time soon. What do you think?
