$100 Off HP TouchPad – Permanent!

Hewlett-Packard announced that the price change $100 off both the 16GB and 32GB versions of the TouchPad is now permanent!  According to an internal memo and confirmed by listing on the company’s web site, HP has made the price change effective immediately. The 16GB TouchPad was $499.99 normally and is now priced at $399.99.  The 32GB version was $599.99 normally and is now permanently reduced to $499.99.

Shopping around at different web sites like Staples shows further savings, especially on the lower end 16GB model. Other price changes may take a few days to trickle out to the various retailers.

The HP TouchPad is a 9.7-inch tablet powered by the WebOS operating system. It is 1.65 pounds, which is heavier than its competitors the iPad2, Galaxy Tab 10.1, and Motorola Xoom.  It has a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 1024 x 768 touch-screen display, built-in speakers, a 9-hour battery, comes with WiFi and Bluetooth communications enabling both web surfing at home and wireless printing.  It also comes with an integrated email application for hooking up to all the popular email platforms like GMail, Yahoo, Hotmail, MobileMe, Exchange and SMTP/POP3 providers. It has multiple other applications and a built-in front-facing camera for video chatting that works with the already installed Skype.
