2015 Jeep Compass, a compact SUV you really can take anywhere!

Not everyone needs to scale a mountain pass or cross rivers in the middle of no-where. Some people cannot fully utilise a full size SUV’s storage capacity, thus rendering ownership of such as detrimental, especially at the pumps.

Jeep has these people, the weekend outdoor enthusiast, the city dweller who enjoys the occasional trip down a rugged path, in mind with the 2015 Compass.

The compact SUV is powered by a fuel efficient, up to 30mpg claimed, 2.0L inline 4 cylinder, producing 158 hp and 141 lb-ft, or a 2.4L 4 cylinder with an output of 172 hp and 165 lb-ft, allowing you to tow up to 2000 lbs.

The 2015 Jeep Compass model lineup consists of three models all available in 4×2 or 4×4.

First off is the Sport model. It comes standard with the 2.0L engine mated to a 5 speed manual gear box and front wheel drive. Optionally it can be had with the more robust 2.4 and either a CVT, a 6 speed auto or a CVT with something called the Freedom drive II off road package .

This last choice comes with a 19:1 over crawl ratio. If you do not know what that is you will not need to check the box.

A few of the numerous standard equipment options that caught my eye are; air-conditioning, electronic stability control, many many airbags, hill start assist, anti-lock front disc but rear drum brakes and projector fog lights and to many more to type out.

The second in the lineup, the Latitude model. Standard kit is the same as the Sport with the addition of a CVT transmission, heated cloth seats, driver seat height adjustment,  115 volt power inverter, leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise and audio controls, remote start and keyless entry, and an available Garmin navigation system.

You can opt for the full Freedom off road CVT if you want to be able to climb over rocks and such.

The top of the line Limited model has all the pervious goodies plus 18 inch aluminum wheels, more leather bits, an electronic vehicle information centre(AM/FM,6 disc, CD/DVD/HDD/MP3/XM Satellite radio), bi-function projector headlights, automatic climate control and power drivers seat.

The Jeep Compass Limited is powered by the 2.4L engine with a 6 speed auto. This can be paired with the full Freedom package off road CVT.

Being the top means you have more options: ParkView rear backup camera, automatic temperature control, projector headlamps, Security and Cargo Convenience Group, Sun and Sound Group, Uconnect Voice Command with Bluetooth, Premium Sound Group with nine speaker audio system with liftgate speakers, navigation with SiriusXM Travel Link and the Trailer-tow Prep Group.

The 2015 Jeep Compass promises to be economical to purchase and drive when it is released in the next few months.

It offers practicality, and maneuverability needed in an urban setting while maintaining the legendary Jeep off road ability.
