2016 Acura ILX Sport Sedan Coming Soon

The 2016 Acura ILX is set to be released early in 2015.

The new ILX is far more powerful, more luxurious and features more enhanced technology than its predecessor.

The 2016 ILX is branded a Sport Sedan, and true to its brand has been endowed with a larger engine.

The former 2.0L has been ditched, and now a 2.4L with 51 hp more is standard.

The engine is a typical Honda based 4 cylinder with iVTEC that produces 201 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque.

This new power plant has been paired with an all new 8 speed DCT transmission.

The dual clutch transmission is paired with a torque converter to provide unparalleled smoothness, and more powerful launches by means of torque multiplication.

Staying with the sport theme, this transmission features rev-matching down-shifts, intuitive gear shifts, quick and crisp function, all controlled automatically or using the paddle shifters.

Further distancing the 2016 ILX from its older siblings, is the new styling.

Both front and rear fascia’s have been redesigned, as are the front grille and rear LED light combination.

New 10 spoke 17″ wheels are standard fare with an 18″ wheel for the A-spec model.

The A-spec model also receives sporty side sills, trunk spoiler and fog lights.

Keeping the family resemblance strong is the Acura ‘Jewel Eye’, standard LED headlights.

The interior has been modified with the addition of contrasting Euro-style stitching on the steering wheel, parking brake handle and shift knob.

The ILX A-SPEC package adds some extra appeal with an exclusive Premium Black interior colour scheme including black headliner, perforated black Lux Suede seat inserts, red instrument illumination, exclusive gray interior stitching and aluminum brake and throttle pedals.

Premium and up models offer a new two-position driver’s seat memory function, a 4-way power passenger seat,  and Acura’s On-Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD) with upper 8-inch display screen and lower 7-inch touchscreen.

The touchscreen connectivity and media system has received over 50 design changes to provide a more intuitive interaction.

Available on the Premium models, is a new tethered navigation system powered by the user’s compatible iPhone and data plan via the AcuraLink navigation app.

Premium and up models also come with Acura’s Blind Spot Information and Rear Cross Traffic Monitor along with enhanced audio options, including SiriusXM radio and AHA radio.

The ILX has been given an IIHS small-overlap frontal crash test and an overall “TOP SAFETY PICK+”  crash safety rating.

This is thanks to significant engineering changes, like increased body rigidity, that also add the benefit of improved cabin quietness and enhance the sporty handling.

Numerous chassis enhancements and a retuned suspension have resulted in better steering responsiveness and feel.

The 2016 Acura ILX will be available in 4 packages, the base ILX, Premium, Technology, and A-spec.

A first for Acura, all 2016 ILX models  come standard with AcuraWatch driver assist and sensing technologies.

This means all ILX models will include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation, and enhanced Collision Mitigation Braking System  with pedestrian-sensing capability.

Although pricing is yet to be released, the 2016 Acura ILX is a strong competitor eager to leave its mark in the premium sport sedan market.
