After-Christmas Sales Take Center Stage

Many stores are ramping up their after-Christmas sales in an attempt to extend the holiday shopping season this year.

For retailers that were savvy enough to earn strong sales from Black Friday through Christmas, this is the financial “icing on the cake” on an already good holiday season.

For the majority, however, this is one of the last chances to break even and potentially turn a profit.

Many stores are offering traditional clearance sales which include deep discounts and specials on items that they want to move out of inventory.  Retailers are increasingly turning to their online marketplaces to push sales and discounts.

After-Christmas sales have become a pastime in many families, though with Christmas falling on a Tuesday this year, it is unclear if people will be back to the office or to the stores looking for bargains.

Establishments such as Aeropostale, Amazon (outlet), Bass Pro Shops, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Radio Shack, Staples, and Victoria’s Secret all have special codes, deals, and sections of their websites set up for the 2012 After Christmas sale season.
