Alex Trebek In Jeopardy! – Host Injured Chasing Thief

Early Tuesday morning, Alex Trebek was injured while chasing a thief from his hotel room in San Francisco.  Alex was in town to host the National Geographic World Championship at Google Headquarters in Mountain View, California.  He showed up Wednesday morning on crutches, hobbling up the disabled access ramp.  He good naturedly explained his injury by letting them know he’d injured himself chasing a burglar down a hall.  He ruptured his Achilles tendon during the chase as well as bruising his other leg during the fall caused by that injury. He contacted security, gave them a good description of the suspect, and security apprehended the thief shortly thereafter. Trebek did not explain anything further except to confirm he’s doing well and expects to be in surgery Friday and in a cast for six weeks after that.

San Francisco Police Department verified further details about the incident, although they did not identify Trebek and his wife as the victims of the crime.  They did confirm a suspect was apprehended and was in custody.  The suspect was identified as Lucinda Moyers.  56-year-old Moyers was charged with burglary and receiving stolen property.  According to the police report, but the victims (assumed to be Trebek and his wife) also identified Moyers as the culprit.  Moyers was not believed to be armed during the burglary.
