Amazon Reveals New Fulfillment Centers For Faster Delivery

Amazon has revealed its newest generation fulfillment center this cyber Monday.

Amazon is currently operating 10 of the eighth generation fulfillment centers in the US, which will speed up the delivery of purchases this holidays.

“The Amazon fulfillment teams are dedicated to innovating in our fulfillment centers to increase speed of delivery while enabling greater local selection at lower costs for our customers. The advancements in our latest fulfillment centers hit all three of these customer desires while continuing to provide a work environment that is great for employees,” said Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations and customer service.

Amazon has chosen Cyber Monday to reveal the centers due to it being the biggest online shopping day of the year, making it a fitting day for the announcement.

The new center features Robo-Stow, one of the world’s largest robotic arms and new vision systems that allow the unloading of trucks in as little as 30 minutes instead of hours.

Amazon is also employing 80,000 seasonal employees to fulfil orders these holidays, a 14% increase over last year, so they are evidently expecting an increase in online shopping this Christmas.

With new fulfillment centers and more employees, hopefully many ‘late gift’ situations can be avoided.
