AT&T is now taking preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S3.
According to their website, preorders will be shipped out on Monday, June 18. Sprint, who is also already taking preorders, states their shipping date a bit differently, saying they will “try to get it to you before Thursday, June 21.” Note the word “before,” not “on.” So which carrier will be the first to get the highly anticipated smartphone into shoppers hands first? Impossible to tell with the information they have given us so far.
AT&T does say that shipments can be delayed “for reasons that include, but are not limited to, product availability.” A pretty standard statement in most cases, but perhaps a bit more important when considering the inventory issues experienced during the European launch of the Galaxy S3 last week.
According to AT&T’s Galaxy S3 preorder page, AT&T will have the 16GB version of the smartphone available for $199 (with purchase of a qualifying 2 year voice and data plan). That’s the same price we have seen from the other carriers so far. Like Sprint, they don’t appear to have the 32GB version available through their preordering page yet. The only option for the actual phone itself is the color: Marble White or Pebble Blue.
Just yesterday Samsung announced that the Galaxy S3 would become available on US carriers this month. There’s going to be quite a free for all when it comes to marketing the phone – no one carrier has an exclusive on it. It’s going to be available on AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and US Cellular.
