There’s no doubt a lot of money was spent on Kim Kardashian’s engagement party.
The locale picked by Kanye West for wooing Kim Kardashian into marriage was AT&T Park, home of the San Fransisco Giants. Renting out the whole facility starts at $200,000 for an event. Add the use of the scoreboard (on which Kanye posted ”PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!”) is another $2,500. Let’s approximate catering at $25,000; there was surely much fine bubbly flowing on the pitcher’s mound.
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra played Lana Del Rey and Ken Hilson songs while Kanye popped the question to Kim in front of her family and a lot of friends. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is one of the top five orchestras in the country. Estimates for their performance including travel and lodging expenses can be anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 or more.
Put the park and the music together and it’s already $277,500. Mind you, that’s just an estimate – no one has posted receipts.
The festivities pale in comparison to the huge rock Kanye handed his bride-to-be. Kim received a 15-carat diamond emerald-cut ring designed by celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz. That’s the same jeweler who put together Kim’s last paltry engagement bauble from Kris Humphries which cost a mere $3 million. Kanye broke the bank with a sparkler estimated to cost $6 million. Kanye has an estimated income of $20 million this year (as of June), so it’s likely he can afford the bling. Still, do you think he skimped? I mean, common wisdom is three months salary – shouldn’t that rock and setting be worth $10 million?
Surely Kim Kardashian, the most successful woman in all of reality television, is worth a big party and engagement ring. Kanye definitely upped the ante and it sounds like everyone involved was pleased with the result.
Do you think the party was excessive or just right given who it was for? Let me know in the comments below!
