Defiance Requires 10GB To Play, Another 10GB For DLC

The upcoming Defiance game will have a mandatory 10GB installation before play, which may cause problems for system owners with little hard drive space.

Based on the live action Syfy show set to air on April 15, 2013, Defiance is a massively multiplayer online game that puts players on a post-terraformed Earth to explore.

Before players can search for advanced or expensive alien technology as “Ark Hunters”, they’ll need to install 10GB worth of data on the console of their choice.

This doesn’t seem problematic at first, as today’s video game consoles range in hard drive size from 250GB to 500GB.

However, for those early console adapters with limited memory or frequent digital game buyers, this means some spring cleaning is in order. According to Pixel Enemy, the installation only needs 5.3GB, with the rest possibly being used for future patches and updates.

For systems owners with the money and hard drive space to spare, Electronic Theater states the first five DLC packs for Defiance will once again add up to 10GB.

Defiance is scheduled for an April release on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Microsoft Windows, and Steam.
