Fiat 500 Abarth Track-Day experience promises big thrills from small cars

Owners of Fiat’s mini exotic, the 500 Abarth, have the opportunity to experience a track day free of charge.

The admission fee was included in the purchase cost of the car. The offer is valid for one year from the date of purchase.

Due to the demand for this exciting day out, Fiat has added three additional stops for the Fall of 2014.

These are: Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.; Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn.; and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.

What to expect?

-A full day of professional driving instruction designed to hone your driving skills on the road and on the track.

-Drive the all new Fiat 500 with a specially tuned automatic transmission.

-Participate in autocross, head-to-head challenge, driving dynamics and performance drive.

-Drivers will end their day by riding shotgun as professional drivers push the track-tuned Abarth vehicles to the limit.

-The chance to push a Fiat 500, that does not belong to you, to the limit.

For those who do not already know, the Fiat 500 Abarth is powered by a 1.4L turbo 4 cyl. engine. This seemingly humble power plant provides 157 hp and 183 lb-ft of torque, in a car that’s not much bigger than a go-kart.

To ensure you feel like a pro while driving your micro racer, the Abarth has a sport mode that enables rev matching down-shifts, fuel cutting up-shifts, brake assist during down-shifts and a more aggressively mapped throttle pedal.

Unfortunately for those of us who have not bought a Fiat 500 Abarth or Abarth Cabrio, the track day may be out of reach as the response from owners has been overwhelming. We can take solace in the opportunity to register for the chance to pay $500 to experience what promises to be a thoroughly exhilarating day, but don’t hold your breathe.

Do you own a Fiat 500 Abarth? Do you want to registar for an upcoming track day?
