For fans of Final Fantasy, today is a big day.
Square Enix, the company that brought us the Final Fantasy franchise, has decided to (finally) release an up-scaled version of one of their best, if not the best, installment in the series – Final Fantasy VII.
It will be exclusively on the PlayStation 4 (sorry Xboxers) and released in the spring of 2015.
While not a true, full, HD re-make, this will be a port of the PC version, and still an improvement of the game’s original graphics.
Called by many as the best Final Fantasy game, this long awaited re-release has been highly anticipated and felt all but inevitable.
Although it’s not clear as to why they didn’t go the full HD route, a re-release of one of the best RPG games ever just makes sense.
Certainly a spike in sales for PS4 consoles will/should happen as a result of the game’s spring re-release. In addition, Sony usually waits about 18 months to drop their PlayStation prices – which would be May of 2015. Optimistically, FF VII should sell for about the same price of the PC version, $12.
