Good Crooks Book One: Missing Monkey is the first of a new series by author Mary Amato.
In this episode of the Good Crooks series, Billy Crook decides that he wants to do a good deed.
Throughout his whole life Billy and his twin sister Jillian have been training to be criminals.
Their parents are crooks, so instead of going to school, Billy and Jillian practice scaling walls and picking locks.
One day Billy spots a sign advertising a volunteer clean up day at the zoo and decides to give it a shot.
Billy is really starting to enjoy himself when his parents show up.
They assume he is trying to steal one of the monkeys, so they “assist” him and one of the zoo’s monkeys ends up at the Crooks house.
For the rest of the book, Billy and Jillian attempt to get the monkey back to the zoo.
This book is written for 7 – 10 year old kids and is fairly easy to read.
At the end of the book there are several activities for children to try on their own.
One of them gives a pattern to make an elephant costume out of cardboard.
