Indie film star Greta Gerwig is poised to to be the star of the new CBS comedy spin off, How I Met Your Dad.
The largely popular comedy How I Met Your Mother is getting ready to say goodbye after 9 seasons of laughs, tears and suit puns by funny man Neil Patrick Harris.
CBS has officially scheduled a pilot for How I Met Your Dad to be filmed in Los Angeles.
Because producers Craig Thomas and Carter Bays say Gerwig is such an essential piece of the new show, further filming will happen where the actress lives, in New York City.
Fans of How I Met Your Mother are both ecstatic and worrisome. After anxiously laughing and crying alongside main character Ted struggling to find true love, the bar is set high for a spin off show.
How I Met Your Dad will portray a similar quest for love, though told from a woman’s perspective. The pilot is planned to open with the ending of the main character’s first, short-lived marriage.
Gerwig will not only be starring in the spin off, but is also expected to produce and write for the show. The actress has had a hand in writing numerous scripts, including her best known film, Frances Ha.
