Huge, 82 Inch, Touchscreen Flat Panel Display Wall Revealed!

At SIGGRAPH 2011, the premier international conference for computer graphics and interactive techniques, Perceptive Pixel unveiled its latest product – the 82-inch multi-touch LCD display.

The LCD has a true multi-touch, pro-cap (projected capacitive) LCD display. At 82-inches, it is the largest optically bonded flat-panel pro-cap in the world. The remarkably slim LCD form factor is only six inches deep. It has a 1920×1080 full-HD resolution, ultra-low parallax, and a 120Hz, touch response time of <1ms.

The 1080p HD 82-inch wall display is optimal for use in creative, collaborative environments like design reviews, concept pitches, storyboarding and brainstorming sessions.  This is the same technology seen on major broadcast TV networks where the anchors interact with the wall behind them – the wall is a multi-touch display. Perceptive Pixel’s patent-pending technologies enable users to manipulate complex datasets through rich and powerful interface techniques in the broadcast, defense, energy, geo-intelligence, industrial design and medical imaging industries. The technology behind the software/hardware interface allows the panel to calculate the exact point and associated movements of an unlimited number of touch points.

Perceptive Pixel’s line of professional flat-panel displays includes a recently introduced 27-inch pro-cap desktop display. The 27-inch version is MSRP of $12,000 while the 82-inch version is $120,000 MSRP. The units should be available sometime in the fourth quarter of 2011.
