iPhone 4 Price Drops – iPhone 3GS Now Free – Both Upgradable!

On Tuesday, Apple made a new iPhone model official. Contrary to the speculation and rumours from around the web and analysts, the iPhone new model was indeed an iPhone 4S and not the iPhone 5 as many had predicted.

With the official unveiling of the iPhone 4S, Apple also announced a price reduction for the iPhone4 and 3GS which could mean savings for a lot of consumers. Following the success lines of the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S retains the same design and exterior of the iPhone 4 while also incorporating, among other features, an improved antennae that automatically switches to maintain the best signal, a new virtual voice assistant app called Siri as well as an improved 8MP camera with 1080p HD recording capabilities and an A5 dual core processor.

The new personal assistant app dubbed “Siri” allows for voice commands and voice to text speech which may actually assist those with disabilities as well as being a handy app for everyday users. The iPhone 4S will be available in several countries including the US, UK, France, Germany from October 14th and comes in three capacities, 16GB/32GB/64GB models.

In the US, the big news is that Sprint will now be selling the iPhone 4S given its world phone capabilities that support both CDMA and GSM bands in one smartphone. This means that both the Verizon and Sprint models will work as world phones, a feature that only AT&T had until recently.

With the news of the iPhone 4S, the Cupertino-based tech giant also announced a price reduction for the current iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS models including a new 8GB iPhone 4 model designed to make the iPhone more affordable. The iPhone 4 has been cut to $99 while the iPhone 3GS will now be free on a 24 month contract. Both have 8GB storage.

In addition to the new iPhone 4S and lower iPhone models, Apple also announced that the 5th version of iOS will be available for download publicly from October 12th which means existing iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS as well as iPod touch users can download the new iOS.
