iPhone 4S Pre-Orders Hit 1,000,000 In 24 hours?

Despite some lukewarm initial reaction, the iPhone 4S has already hit more than 1 million orders in less than 24 hours of its pre-order availability.

According to Apple’s official statement, the new improved version of the iPhone sold over 1,000,000 in less than 24 hours. Apple launched the new iPhone 4S model last week at its Cupertino headquarters. The new iPhone 4S builds on the success of the iPhone 4 and maintains the same external design but has some new improved internal features. A new A5 dual core processor similar to one installed on the iPad 2 has been added, the ability to record 1080p HD video using a new 8 mega pixel camera is also a new feature on the phone. Apple has also added a new improved antenna that automatically adjusts itself for the best signal. The new iPhone 4S wireless antenna also has a faster connection speed which is twice as fast as the old iPhone 4 wireless antenna. iPhone 4S users will now enjoy speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps on HSPA+. The new iPhone 4S is available in 16GB/32GB/64GB models starting from $199.

The new iPhone 4S 64GB is priced at $399 on a 2 year contract and when compared to other competitors, is a new high level capacity smartphone. By contrast, the Samsung’s Galaxy II has a total storage of 48GB through the upgrade of a microSD card. Blackberry’s smartphones only include 8GB storage but are expandable via a microSD card upgrade.

Along with the announcement and launch of the iPhone 4S, Apple also announced a lower priced iPhone 4 model with 8GB storage for $99 on a 2 year contract while offering the iPhone 3GS for free on a 2 year contract as well. The new lower capacity iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S are all expected to be available from October 12th through Sprint, Verizon and AT&T stores and Apple retail stores.
