iPhone 5 Specs Include: LTE, 4 Inch Display, Lightning Dock Connector

It’s been almost one year since Apple launched the iPhone 4S.

Today the Cupertino based tech company announced the new iPhone 5. The new phone takes a different approach to previous generations with a 4 inch display, LTE connectivity and a new lightning dock connector.

The 4 inch display supports a resolution of 1136 x 640 with a 16:9 aspect ration. The new larger 4 inch screen has been rumoured for month and might be a surprise move since Apple is better known for setting trends rather than following the suit of Android manufacturers like HTC and Samsung.

However, the new screen will still give a good retina display with 326 pixels per inch which is in line with the previous iPhone 4S and iPhone 4.

The iPhone 5 also supports LTE on several networks around the world including the usual three in the US, Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. Apple is also pushing for LTE to be adopted worldwide, with an announcement that the iPhone 5 will support LTE in various world markets.

A new dock connector is smaller than previous generation 30 pin dock connectors. This might pose a challenge for existing first and third party accessories, but there is a special adapter that will be available to connect to older first and third party accessories. The iPhone 5 will be available in black and white.
