Iron Man 3 Rockets Into DVD Release!

Iron Man 3 rockets into DVD release today.

In case you missed it, the top grossing film of 2013 and one of the top 5 grossing films of all time was released on DVD today. Iron Man 3 actually outperformed both of the previous Iron Man films.

Iron Man 3 tells the story of Tony Stark battling a foe of menace and power that threatens national security and Tony Stark’s own friends and family. The star-studded, special effects extravaganza cost roughly $200 million to produce and grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide.

With such a great return on the investment, it’s a sure thing Robert Downey Jr. will be back as Tony Stark in future Iron Man films….or is it? While Robert Downey Jr. is still appearing as Iron Man in the next two Avengers movies, he is not under contract beyond that for any more. Iron Man 3 could very well have been the last Iron Man stand alone film with Robert Downey Jr. in the part. There are some rumors that his co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle may get spin-offs of their own based on the comic book canon, but nothing has been firmed up yet.

Wal-Mart has the DVD at $19.96, Blu-Ray/DVD at $24.96 and the 3D/Blu-Ray/DVD at $39.96. Best Buy undercuts Wal-Mart on all versions – DVD ($17.99), Blu-Ray/DVD ($22.99), and 3D/Blu-Ray/DVD ($31.99). Target has  the DVD at $19.99, Blu-Ray/DVD at $24.99 and the 3D/Blu-Ray/DVD at $35.99. Amazon rounds out the offers with the DVD at $17.99, Blu-Ray/DVD at $24.99 and the 3D/Blu-Ray/DVD at $31.99.

Iron Man 3 out on DVD today with what may be Robert Downey Jr.’s last go around as Iron Man in a stand-alone feature.

Do you think there will be more Iron Man films and will they have Robert Downey Jr. in them? Let me know in the comments below!
