Playboy Reveals New iPhone App

Playboy Reveals New iPhone App

Playboy has launched their first iPhone app after months of testing.

Fans of Playboy can view galleries filled with provocative pictorials of Playboy models. However, none of the pictures are nude due to the content guidelines for Apple’s iPhone apps, which prohibit pornographic material.

Unlike the magazines straightforward pictorials, the iPhone app will encourage its users to use their imagination and creativity.

The app can be downloaded for free from Apple’s App store, though the latest content requires a monthly subscription that costs $1.99 per month and $19.99 per year.

Users will be able to access exclusive content each month including subjects such as travel, cars, style, food and drink, as well as complete articles and interviews.

Playboy’s Director of Digital Content, Josh Schollmeyer said, “We still want to give a taste of what appears in the magazine. We try to make it very medium-friendly.” The iPhone app appears to be a pilot program for migrations to Android tablets and devices ,which will happen “hopefully within the next year or so.”
