Star Wars: The Force Awakens Opening Today

Today is the much-anticipated opening day for Star Wars:  The Force Awakens.

It’s been a long, long time since we were last transported to this galaxy far, far, away. But, at last, we find out what has been going on with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia Organa, and Chewbacca the Wookie–not to mention the intrepid droids R2-D2 and C3PO.

Is the Force still with them?

In addition to getting a look at original Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, we will also be introduced to several new characters:  desert scavenger Rey (Daisy Ridley), defector Finn (John Boyega), hot-shot pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and new villain Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).  Then there’s new droid BB-8, Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) and Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o), among others.

Director J.J. Abrams has had his work cut out for him in attempting to create a worthy new chapter to what is arguably the most loved movie franchise of all time.

In the basic plot of Star Wars:  The Force Awakens, Luke Skywalker, the last Jedi knight, has long-since disappeared.  Both the evil First Order and the Resistance are looking for him.

At the center of the search are pilot Poe Dameron and droid BB-8, who have a clue to his whereabouts.  As they attempt to deliver that clue to the Resistance, Rey and Finn are drawn into the quest.

Where is Luke Skywalker?

Will the new chapter of Star Wars live up to the massive hype and anticipation of fans?
