Ben Affleck in Gone Girl

The first teaser trailer has been released for the film adaptation of Gone Girl, the best-selling novel of 2012 written by Gillian Flynn.

Gone Girl tells the story of Nick Dunne’s desperate search for his wife Amy who disappeared on the day of their fifth wedding anniversary.

In the film, Nick Dunne is played by Ben Affleck and Amy Dunne is played by Rosamund Pike. The film also stars Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry.

To the delight of fans of the book, writer Gillian Flynn also wrote the adapted screenplay of the film. However, he chose to completely change the third and final act of the film, the most controversial part of the book. Thus, even avid fans will be in for a surprise when Gone Girl hits theatres on October 3rd.

The film is directed by David Fincher, known for Se7en, Fight Club, and The Social Network.

The teaser only shows snippets of Nick’s search for his wife and the ensuing police investigation. A cover of “She”, by Richard Butler, sets a haunting tone to the trailer. You can check the trailer out below
