Marvel’s newest superhero movie, Ant-Man, will crawl into theaters on July 17th.
Paul Rudd plays a conman, Scott Lang, who helps his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his Ant-Man suit. The suit gives the person who wears it the ability to shrink in scale and increase his strength.
Using the suit, the two plan to pull off a heist that will save the world.
People, for the most part, have been reacting to this film in two ways: some are following it closely, and the others are taking it as a bad joke. The buzz around the film is gaining momentum and showing promise, however.
Director Peyton Reed (Yes Man, The Break-Up) hasn’t directed any action films in the past, but neither had Jon Favreau before directing Iron-Man.
I think this will be a an unexpected hit. Everyone loves Paul Rudd, and Marvel seems unable to not deliver great hits with their Superhero movies. I for one welcome the new insect movie. If it balances story, action, and comedy as well as Iron-Man did, it’ll be a another hit by Marvel.
