Marvel Studios is giving movie and comic book fans their first look at new characters Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver from the upcoming film The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
Quicksilver/Pietro Maximoff will be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson from the Kick-Ass films. Elizabeth Olsen (Oldboy) will be portraying Scarlet Witch/Wanda Maximoff.
In the Marvel Comics universe, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are twins fathered by Magneto. The pair first appeared in X-Men #4 in March, 1964. Scarlet Witch has the power to control probability, while Quicksilver possesses superhuman speed.
Marvel revealed its concept art for the two characters in the TV special Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe. In addition to Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, the special offered fans a look at other upcoming Marvel films and a look at the beginnings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is currently filming and tentatively scheduled for release in May 2015. The movie will feature a Who’s Who of Marvel characters and actors, including Robert Downey, Jr. as Ironman/Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk/Bruce Banner.
