Lightning Dock Connectors, New iPods, Now Avail For Preordering On Amz

On Monday, resellers on Amazon began to offer third party dock connector adapters ahead of the Sept. 21 launch of the new iPhone 5.

The new iPhone features among others, a new Lightning dock connector that is not compatible with older 30 pin devices.

One  adapter available on Amazon is the Naotch adapter. The Naotch Adapter has a male lightning port and a female 30 pin legacy port. The two are connected using a 20 centimetre cord. The Naotch adapter retails for $17.95.

The iTronz USB Sync Data/Charging adapter costs less at $9.99. It also features a male lightning port and a female 30 pin legacy port, although the two are connected using solid plastic rather than wire.

Apple has its own Lightning dock adapter which sold out last week. The seventh generation iPod Nano and fifth generation iPod touch are also now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Apple announced a new line of iPods last week at a media event in San Francisco alongside the launch of the company’s highly anticipated smartphone, the iPhone 5. The new iPod touch features an A5 dual core chip, faster graphics and a 4 inch retina display. It also has an improved FaceTime 720p camera and a 5 megapixel camera on the back. It now supports Siri Assistant and is 6.1 mm thin.

Along with the changes outside, the fifth generation iPod touch comes with a lanyard (or loop) and is available in five colors: raw aluminium, blue, red, yellow and black. Prices start at $299 for the 32GB model and $399 for the bigger 64GB model. The fourth generation iPod touch is also still available at $199 for the 16GB model and $249 for the 32GB model.
